The American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive surgery (AAFPRS) was founded in 1964 and  represents more than 2700 facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons. The AAFPRS is a National Medical Specialty Society of the American Medical Association (AMA). The AAFPRS holds an official seat in the AMA House of Delegates and on the American College of Surgeons Board of Directors.
